Welcome to Iowa, the Hawkeye State and the Iowa History and Genealogy Project, an independent site of the American History and Genealogy Project.  My name is Judy White and State Coordinator for Iowa.  We want to help you in your family search for Ancestors, learn their roots, lifestyles, and a bit of Iowa History.  After spending 30 years in Iowa we moved back to Oregon for our retirement years, because of that I am not able to do any Iowa research for our visitors.  As we go along hopefully I will be able to find some volunteers that are willing to conduct searches.

At the County Site you will find a listing of all the counties, date established, how formed and the county coordinator when the county has been adopted.  We need many new coordinators, and hopefully you will find the time to volunteer.  With a little help I am sure you will be able to build pages like a pro in no time!!  If you are interested in adopting a county for this state, go to About the Project for information on what is required for hosting a county for AHGP.  Send me an email by using the Submit form link listed at the bottom of each page or clicking on my name.
